Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 Tbsp. butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 lb. chocolate
Instructions
- Get your oven ready by preheating it to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a big bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
- In a different bowl, beat sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla extract using a mixer until almost smooth, don't worry about a few butter bits.
- Take the dry ingredients from bowl one and add them to the wet ingredients in bowl two. Mix it all together until it forms a dough ball.
- Now for shaping! Divide the dough in half and roll each half into a flat log, about 8 inches long and 2-3 inches wide. Put the logs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake the biscotti logs for 25 minutes, or until they're slightly golden on the edges and have some cracks on top.
- Take out the hot biscotti and carefully move them to a cutting board. Use a serrated bread knife to cut the biscotti diagonally into slices about ½ inch thick.
- Time for the second bake! Arrange the biscotti slices flat on the baking sheet and bake for another 5 minutes. Then, take out the sheet, flip the biscotti, and bake for another 5 minutes, or until they're golden brown.
- Once they're golden brown, take out the biscotti and let them cool completely before decorating with melted chocolate.
